opportunity, then The Wilderness may be the place for you to
serve.
We are
looking for young adults who are sold out to the Lord Jesus Christ
and are willing to be trained to reach young people for His Glory.
We see our staff as a key element to the fundamental success of our program.
Serving at The Wilderness Christian Camp should not be taken lightly and
should be bathed in prayer. This is not a "summer job"
opportunity, but rather a ministry opportunity to serve the King of
Kings.
If you are
a student preparing for full time ministry, you may be eligible for
"internship"
credits from your college or university.
Staff Training
- June 7-
11, 2008
During the training days, staff will be involved in a variety of classes,
games, and routines geared to prepare and equip them for this year's camp
program. Throughout the training period, staff will engage in hiking,
climbing, the high and low ropes course, fire-building, and other related
camp activities.
Staff Schedule
Option
The staffs' summer is divided into two, four week, periods. The first four
weeks are survival camps, located at The Wilderness camp facilities (June
7 - July 5). The last four weeks the staff will be involved in
traditional weeks of camp at two rental facilities and The Appalachian Trail
Backpacking Trip (July 8 -August 23).
Volunteer staff can choose to be involved in the first period or both
periods. Staff wishing to be involved in the second period, MUST be
involved in the first period. Staff volunteering for the entire summer must
commit to June 7 - August 23. Short term volunteer opportunities are also
available on a limited bases. Note: Some flexibility with the above schedule
may be possible - call for information.
Expenses and Financial Information
Lodging and camp meals are provided all summer. Volunteer staff are encouraged to enlist one sponsor for each week they volunteer.
The sponsor's role is to pray for that staff member throughout the week and
to also financially support the staff member in the amount of $50.00. This
one-time amount is to be given directly to the staff member to cover his or
her personal expenses during the weekend (laundry, food, fuel,
personal items, etc.).
